"Paulson's Art Becomes Cover of a New Book..."

Danny Litwhiler played in a World Series with the St. Louis Cardinals in the 1940's.  His glove is in the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown because he was the first player to ever play an entire season without committing an error.  Litwhiler was also responsible for the development of the Speed Gun for measuring the speed of a pitched ball.  He managed the Michigan State baseball team for many years, as well as professional baseball teams.  In fact, Litwhiler was Buck Paulson's first professional baseball coach with the Fargo-Moorhead Twins in the early 1950's.  Litwhiler was also Buck's first "art instructor" in the sense that he taught Buck to "paint the strike-zone" with his pitching.  Litwhiler has a new book on his life in baseball titled, "LIVING THE BASEBALL DREAM", and Buck Paulson painted the cover for the book.  The cover of the book appears below.

Below is a photo of the painting the book cover was

"The Artist, Buck Paulson..."

Above is a 1962 photo of the young artist Buck Paulson with his master artist instructor, Claude Buck, in Santa Barbara, California.  It was Claude Buck who revealed the "Surface Intensity" Master Technique to Paulson.

Many people recognize the Master Artist Buck Paulson from his popular PBS television series, "Painting with Paulson," seen since 1988.  However, few realize that he started out at the age of 17 as a professional athlete (he was in the Cleveland Indians organization).

After spending time as a professional baseball player in the 1950s, Don Paulson began painting and was introduced to an old Master Artist, Claude Buck (whose work today is in the Smithsonian Institute, and from whom Buck Paulson adopted the name "BUCK" out of respect to this great master) in 1962.  Claude Buck passed away in 1974 at the age of 84, but before he died he revealed to Buck Paulson an old, Master Artistic technique called Surface Intensity tm (click here to learn more about "Surface Intensity)  .

Buck Paulson (referred to as the "Vincent van Gogh of Sports Art " because of his brilliant use of "Surface Intensity") now applies the master technique to dramatic and moving pieces of Sports Art.   You'll find some beautiful one of a kind works of Sports Art on this "Hall of Fame Art" website
